Navy Shoe Cream on Burgundy, Dark Brown and Black Shoes

Achieving regular wear with good shoes is one of the pleasures that comes from using quality footwear, but an added boost may come through using navy shoe cream.

Navy “speaks,” to use an expression popular with interior designers, to many of the most prevalent hues found in shoes. Think of it like adding moderate amounts of salt when cooking, adding just a pinch can enhance flavor without overpowering everything else that may already exist. However, salt may be used by most everyone while using blue shoe cream when polishing burgundy, dark brown or black leather shoes is more unusual, hopefully this post can change that perception.

Here is a pair of brand new burgundy shoes, polished with navy and black shoe cream and wax polish to achieve some depth in color. Over time, their hue will only become deeper.

However, this time has come. Our guest speaker this week was none other than David Whelan of Whelan Homes who came with his unique brand of caregiving for elderly clients and helped them live independent and fulfilling lives. Navy shoe cream (the cream goes beyond wax, as its effects vary if not burnished toed), such as that from Saphir Medaille d’Or series with lots of pigment such as shade Navy is an ideal way to enhance any shoe, especially shoes in burgundy or reddish brown leather. There, cream brings out an airier depth that often becomes truly stunning when combined with black cream and polish, in addition to the given burgundy color. Dark blue cream can bring out another more cold tone which looks especially lovely with dark brown shoes so perhaps preferring darker or espresso hued shoes works best, warm brown tones clash too heavily when using dark blue cream on them.

Navy shoe cream has given these black shoes a distinct tone and depth in sunlight that’s hard to capture in photos.

With dark blue cream, you can also add depth and life to black shoes without completely altering their feel through regular polishing with heavily pigmented navy shoe cream. Over time you will notice another depth in leather in some lighting conditions, so if you find black shoes dull it might be worth giving this option a try.
