Christophe Corthay, one of France’s acclaimed bespoke shoemakers, joins us in this episode of Shoesperk Podcast for a conversation about shoes and art. Listen as he discusses why he left Maison Corthay, why he finds most bespoke shoemakers produce dull products, and his goal with Tranchet Vif: creating shoes people won’t wear.
Christophe Corthay has dedicated over three decades of his life to making shoes. First with Pierre at Maison Corthay and now running the Atelier du Tranchet under its brand Tranchet Vif, alongside Christophe “Toulouz” Algans and Phillippe de Paillette of Tranchet Vif. Those familiar with their footwear know they’re truly artistic pieces; no other brand compares. So I decided to talk with Christophe about this sometimes controversial topic of shoes as art.
